Jack Boddy interviews School Direct Trainee Teachers Mr Oakes (FO) and Miss Moore (RM) Why did you decide to take up a career in teaching? R.M: When I was younger I was a Junior Firefighter. I then moved to teaching the juniors in my move from student to teacher. I felt like the change was a great experience and that is when I decided to become a teacher.

Do you believe that you could handle any class? F.O: I believe that every class brings a different challenge as everyone is unique. I see each class as a new opportunity that can help me in teaching.

Are you able to make lessons fun yet on topic? R.M: I think that we always try to but it depends on the class and what works well for them.

What is it that you like about Mathematics/English literature and English Language? R.M: I like that there is a definitive answer and you can clearly see progress in the students.

F.O: See, I love that in English, as long as you present your answer with reasons, you can give any answer. …
