FROM 21ST TO 23RD MARCH, George Stephenson High School showcased the culmination of seven months of hard work and dedication: our production of Aladdin Jr.

Taking part in a school production is an effective and rewarding way to get actively involved with your school. Personally, I take part in these yearly showcases because of the love I have for performing, but also because there is something significant about dashing down your music corridor at 7pm on a school night, face full of exuberant stage makeup and wearing a bright, snazzy costume. Even the most mundane aspects of these showcases make for heart-warming memories in a home away from home, shared with a big group of people who, without these projects, you'd never have had the good fortune to get to know.

For Aladdin Jr., we rehearsed three hours a week after school, and as the opening night drew nearer, we all attended Sunday rehearsals in order to do full run-throughs and ensure that the show was as near to perfection as it could be. …
