Captor Told His Ex: 'I Will Butcher You' COURT HELD VICTIM AT KNIFE POINT IN HER OWN HOME

A KNIFE-WIELDING ex-boyfriend threatened to "butcher" his former partner as he held her captive in her own home for three hours.

Thomas Court imprisoned the terrified victim in her South Shields flat after arming himself with a blade, hiding her door keys and removing the battery from her mobile phone.

Newcastle Crown Court heard that the 34-year-old chillingly told the victim "I will butcher you" if she didn't do as he said as the pair sat in her living room.

The petrified woman was only finally able to escape when, after three hours, Court fell asleep and she ran out of the house in her bare feet and pyjamas to raise the alarm.

The police were called and Court was found still asleep in the victim's home and arrested.

Now, Court, of no fixed abode, has been jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to one count of false imprisonment and one of using violence to secure entry to a property. Neil Pallister, prosecuting, said the victim had been asleep in bed at around 9.30pm on February 24 this year when she was awoken by a knock at the door.

When she went to answer it, Court barged inside and checked every room to make sure nobody else was present before locking her front door and putting the key in his pocket.

The court was told the woman ran to get her mobile from her bedroom but it was snatched off her by the defendant, who removed the battery.

Moments later, Court went into the victim's kitchen and grabbed a knife from a draw.

Mr Pallister said: "Having armed himself with a knife he went back and told her 'sit down or I will butcher you'. She only had two camping chairs in her living room.

"She sat in one and he pulled another in front of her. He put the battery from her phone on the fireplace. …
