BURNOPFIELD'S Chrissy Rouse bounced back from a big crash to take second place in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 race at Knockhill.

The Newcastle University student had two races as the series crossed the border for its annual trip to the Scottish track.

He had been hoping to build on his success at a club event there in April when he took five wins and smashed the lap record.

After qualifying second on the grid behind 2014 champion Danny Buchan, Rouse made a strong start in the first race and was closing down the former BSB rider when he crashed out at Scotsman Corner.

He was back out for the second race, this time starting from third on the grid and determined to make amends in the 24-lap race.

Getting a clean start and holding his place through the opening lap, he soon closed up to TT winner Michael Rutter, who was running second, and made a move underneath him at the hairpin to take the place. …
