LINKING the past with the future, the gateway to the $3b Harmony master-planned community at Palmview was opened today.

Named Peter Crosby Way in honour of one of the early families to settle in the area, the road will be used by 12,000 future Harmony residents as well as those in neighbouring communities.

"Steady and sustainable growth in developments like Palmview continues to support our vision, as we focus on delivering Australia's leading healthy, smart and creative region -- for today and for generations to come."

AVID Property Group general manager Bruce Harper said the road's name pays homage to the site's Crosby family history.

"The Crosby family's relationship with the Sunshine Coast spans over a century and there is no more fitting name for the road than Peter Crosby Way," Mr Harper said.

"As the gateway to the community, the opening of the road is an exciting day for Harmony and this is just the beginning of a number of major construction milestones coming up this year. …
