REDCAR RNLI figures show two dozen rescues have been made so far this year.

As 2017 reaches its midway point, data issued by the charity details the dramatic incidents that have taken place off Teesside's shores.

The summer months brought a surge in call-outs for the volunteer-run service.

And incidents range from broken down boats to searches for missing people.

Here we break down the rescues made by the lifeboat crews in and around Redcar so far this year.

JANUARY | On the evening of January 8, a lifeboat was sent to help police search for a man in distress in Saltburn. Lifeboats were stood down after the man was taken into the care of the police.

| A surfer was reported to be in difficulties near Marske on January 16. One arrival it was found to be a false alarm.

| On January 12, the team were stood down en route to attending a report of a dog falling from Huntcliff, Saltburn.

| A fishing boat was reported to be in difficulty off the coast of Saltburn. All was found to be well at the incident on January 28.

FEBRUARY | Five people were stranded on rocks at Redcar but managed to return to safety without help. The February 4 launch was cancelled. March | Lifeboats were called to help search for a missing person on March 10. | On March 15, Redcar RNLI were called to a broken down fishing boat with one person on board. It was towed to safety in the River Tees.

| A person was rescued from the sea at Saltburn on March 24.

| March 31 saw the lifeboat attend reports of a missing person in the sea at Redcar. This was found to be a false alarm.

April | On April 11, five people were cut off by the tide on rocks at Redcar.

They managed to get to safety unaided so the launch was cancelled.

| A report came in of a body in the sea in Redcar. When the lifeboat arrived to the April 17 call-out, it was found to be a false alarm. | The crew towed a broken down fishing boat to Paddy's Hole on the River Tees on April 20. The boat had broken down in the Tees Bay. …
