United Player Rushed to Grenfell to Help Survivors

NEWCASTLE United footballer Yasin Ben El-Mhanni turned into a hero as he rushed to the aid of Grenfell Tower survivors.

The 21-year-old, part of the club's youth set-up, was visiting his parents in West London on the night of the deadly fire.

As news of the fire spread, the youngster ran to the building knowing friends were trapped inside.

He was armed with food, water and clothing and later gathered pals to help with his efforts.

"I was very emotional to be there and see something like that happen," El-Mhanni told Sky News.

"I was very emotional to be there and see something like that happen.

"That's not normal. "You just don't see that," he said as he relived the horror of witnessing the inferno.

"You never think or imagine you would see anything like that happen."

El-Mhanni - a winger who moved to Newcastle in 2016 - grew up kicking a ball in the shadows of Grenfell Tower, in Kensington.
