BOXING: Jeff Horn proved with his WBO world title win on Sunday dreams can be captured by those who chase hard enough and Toowoomba's Kris George now realises his opportunity could be just around the corner.

George is a reigning Commonwealth title holder and alongside a number of exciting Australian prospects -- including fellow welterweight Jeff Horn -- he boasts an impressive ring record of 12 wins and one loss.

Twenty-seven-year-old George is currently in a career-holding pattern after his planned Commonwealth title defence in England this month was canned following a "back flip" by fight promoter Frank Warren.

But Horn's victory over Manny Pacquiao in front of a packed Suncorp Stadium and a world television audience spanning 150 countries has suddenly changed the boxing landscape for Australian fighters, including George.

"It's definitely given us a new profile," George said.

"I think world boxing will start taking us a bit more legitimately now. …
