Ipswich Students Are Keen to Learn More

TWO Ipswich students are getting vital experience on the site of the house renovation in North Ipswich which is proving a big hit with future tradies.

Connor Parsons from St Peter Claver College and Andrew Nguyen from Bremer State High School are both working on the project which has so far seen 35 trainee construction students on the Building Futures Program transform a North Ipswich house.

"I was doing work placement for a bit and I was asked if I was interested," Connor said. "I've always been involved in building things, and construction. I've always liked being outdoors and making things with my hands to be honest.

"I like being here, it is exactly what I expected. I go home every day thinking that I've achieved something" Connor added. "It was always my goal to work in carpentry. My ultimate goal is to get an apprenticeship and mabe one day build my own house.

"Working with people on a project like this means there is something new every day, and I'm learning heaps of stuff all the time. …
