IMAGINE the pop hits of Kylie Minogue, Avril Lavigne, Madonna, The Little River Band and many more merged with the soulful smoothness of jazz.

That's exactly what you'll get at this year's Friends of the MECC Jazz Brunch, thanks to Jazz Nouveau.

The brunch, famous for its chilled ambience, will be held in the MECC North Foyer on Sunday, July 16, from 11am.

Jazz Nouveau features a revolving door of amazing Sydney musicians.

They include the "Good Doctor" Dave Goodman on drums, Emile Nelson on double bass, the elegant Ms Evelyn Duprai, who tastefully sings it all from a whisper to a shout, and Joseph Calderazzo on guitar.

Mackay Regional Council community engagement committee chair Cr Fran Mann said this was the perfect relaxing event to wind down after partying hard for the Festival of Arts' big 30th birthday bash.

"The Jazz Brunch is always really popular - maybe it's because festival-goers treat it as a bit of a hangover cure after a week of festivities," Cr Mann said. …
