Wu Back for Another Shot at Glory a Decade after Debut

IT'S been a decade since Melissa Wu first represented Australia at a world championship event as a fresh-faced 15-year-old.

Now still only 25, she is back in the green and gold leading the Aussie diving charge in Budapest, Hungary, as part of a 10-strong team contesting the 2017 FINA World Championships. The diving starts tonight at the Dagaly Swimming Complex.

Competing in Melbourne in 2007 the Sydneysider was an instant hit, winning silver in the synchronised 10m platform and finishing 11th in the individual event before following up with silver in the 10m synchro at the Beijing Olympics the following year.

Wu would be crowned Commonwealth Games champion in 2010 when teaming with Alexandra Croak to win the 10m.

Following up her fifth placing in Rio last year, Wu is in career-best form having dominated at the Australian Open in Sydney in May, and will contest three events in Budapest - the individual, synchro and mixed synchro platform events. …
