Coast Teams Rally for Endeavour Event; Canetoad Cruisers Take Third-Highest Fundraising Title

THE Great Endeavour Rally is done and dusted for another year, with participants being congratulated for raising $321,815 to help improve the lives of people with a disability.

Teams from Sunshine Beach, Nambour, Image Flat, Cooroy and Mount Mellum went the extra mile in 2017, raising more than $72,000.

The Canetoad Cruisers (Gayle Pattinson, Nigel Pattinson and George Glendinning, from Mount Mellum) became the third-highest fundraisers at this year's event.

Thanking all the teams and their supporters, Endeavour Foundation events manager Paul Purcell said there was something "really special" about the annual event.

"If you've been on the Great Endeavour Rally once, chances are you'll want to come back," he said.

"The camaraderie, commitment to the cause and all-round fun atmosphere is second to none. I guess an event doesn't make it through three decades without being something really special.

"Funds raised will deliver really meaningful outcomes for people with a disability, with the money being invested in the likes of home automation systems which allow the people we support to electronically control the lights, air-conditioners and technology like TVs. …
