1 EAGLE EYE Tonight, BBC1, 10.40pm AN INVISIBLE puppet master with the voice of actress Julianne Moore abuses technology that monitors our every move for nefarious purposes. Jerry Shaw (Shia LaBeouf) and Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan) both receive calls informing them to follow explicit instructions or pay the price. When the mastermind behind the scheme reveals their goal - for Jerry and Rachel to commit mass murder - the would-be assassins end up on the run from the authorities. Eagle Eye barely pauses for breath between action sequences - which means we can enjoy the excitement and strong performances, without having time to pick holes in the plot.

2 OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL Tomorrow, BBC1, 3pm SAM RAIMI'S lavish Wizard of Oz prequel finds circus magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) having trouble with a strongman. He escapes in a hot air balloon, but the canopy is sucked into a tornado and Oscar crash-lands in Oz. Beautiful witch Theodora (Mila Kunis, left) accompanies Oscar to the Emerald City, where the people live in fear of wicked witch Glinda (Michelle Williams).

3 GANGS OF NEW YORK Monday, ITV4, 10pm MARTIN SCORSESE'S epic is set in 19th-century New York, and follows the Irish-born Amsterdam Vallon (Leonardo DiCaprio, left) as he joins forces with Bill the Butcher (Daniel Day-Lewis), the leader of the gang who killed his father. Amsterdam's ultimate aim is to avenge his dad's death, but as he rises up the ranks, he finds himself bonding with his new mentor.

4 THE HANGOVER Tuesday, ITV2, 9pm BAWDY buddy comedy. Two days before he walks down the aisle, Doug (Justin Bartha) heads for a stag weekend in Las Vegas with pals Phil (Bradley Cooper, left) and Stu (Ed Helms) and future brother-in-law Alan (Zach Galifianakis). …
