ENGLAND manager Mark Sampson is confident the Lionesses will thrive under the growing pressure and expectation upon them at the Women's European Championship.

A stunning 6-0 victory over Scotland on Wednesday saw England back up their pre-tournament bullishness with a performance which sent a loud warning to their title rivals.

They head from their Utrecht base to Breda for a clash with Spain tomorrow and will hope to tie up qualification for the quarterfinals.

Sampson has said he believes England are on course to become the world's best team and he is relishing the opportunity to prove that theory.

He said: "For anyone who has worked so hard at their career to be at one of these events, it would be stupid not to enjoy them and really manage that emotion.

"I always look back at the players and when we first started out and were playing in front of not many spectators there was no pressure on our game.

"It is fun when the pressure comes on, with big crowds and you have to produce your best. …
