SHEFFIELD TIGERS 60 NEWCASTLE DIAMONDS 33 A MUCH-CHANGED Newcastle Diamonds line-up slumped to another away defeat against bogey side Sheffield Tigers.

The visitors extended their poor SGB Championship record away from Byker this season, even with a top-notch top five taking to the track.

Todd Kurtz and Josh Grajczonek got the hosts off to an ideal start, giving them a 5-1 lead after the first heat.

And after just three heats, the Tigers were 14-4 up on the scoreboard as Diamonds captain Ludvig Lindgren and the returning Stuart Robson struggled to gain points early on.

It took Newcastle until heat five to register their first win of the night, earning a 6-3 result thanks to Robert Lambert's double, cutting the score to 21-12.

But any hopes of a Diamonds fightback were short-lived and by heat nine, the score had drifted to 36-21.

Lindgren took full advantage of a Grajczonek engine failure to nab another Diamonds' first, with Robson in third - but Newcastle were still 13 points adrift with five races to go. …
