Rabbitohs Set to Beat the Bulldogs

Article excerpt

Rabbitohs v Bulldogs Thursday 7.50pm ANZ Stadium

LACK lustre game to kick off Round 23 between two teams well out of contention for finals footy this season.

At least the Rabbitohs come into this game in winning form after defeating a very disappointing Dragons team last weekend.

That form is a far cry from where the Bulldogs are at -- they simply could not have played worse in their most recent loss to the Eels with their players honestly looking like they didn't want to be out on that football field.

I can't tip the Bulldogs to win any game of footy while they are playing like that and will be sticking with the Bunnies to make it two in a row here. Rabbitohs to win.

Eels v Knights Friday 6pm ANZ Stadium

THE Knights are going for three straight wins in this game and a chance to potentially join the Wests Tigers on the ladder. If that happens it will make the battle for the dreaded wooden spoon a real contest over the final three rounds.

It's been really pleasing to watch the Knights have some success lately, it gives them hope for 2018 and is also a good reward for hanging together solid as a group, when they battled through the tough times this year.

In saying all that it's very hard to see them defeating the high flying Eels who are right on track for a top-four finish.

Mitchell Moses at half has made them a different team this year and they well and truly deserve all the wraps they have been receiving.

Eels to win this one but I expect the Knights to put up a real fight yet again.

Broncos v Sharks Friday 7.50pm Suncorp Stadium

THIS will be a great game and is sure to be played out in front of a big crowd. The loser of this game will move out of the top-four and with some tough games ahead for both clubs before the season is over, that move could be permanent.

The Sharks have really struggled for consistency this year but they will welcome back James Maloney for this game and his presence is sure to bring out the best in them.

They are the defending premiers and are a very tough footy team -- they will come out all guns blazing early against the Broncos after being physically intimidated by the Raiders forwards last Saturday night.

They will not repeat that effort in this game. The Broncos played some great footy against the Titans in their last game, but that effort by the Titans was not up to NRL standard and that form line is certainly no guide to how this game will be played.

Broncos to win of course but I'm expecting this game to be brutal and very close.

Dragons v Titans Saturday 3pm Jubilee Oval

THE Dragons simply have to win this game -- there is no more hiding for them. I have had my doubts about them all season as being genuine semi-finalists and their recent form has been typically inconsistent. …
