Work on Morgan Park; Facility Ready for Major Superbike Influx

MOTORSPORT: The Warwick District Sporting Car Club expects a crowd of 10,000 to be in Warwick for the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championships at Morgan Park.

Club committee member Wayne Pfingst said volunteers had been working hard to prepare for the superbike weekend on August 25-27.

Maintenance has included sandblasting, repainting and placing new timber steps on the bridge across the raceway.

Regular Morgan Park race driver Jason O'Mara stepped up to help the regular volunteers with work on a bridge which was sourced from the Sydney Olympic site and placed across the track near the top of the hill.

Pfingst said three food vendors would be operating from the area near the bridge on superbike weekend.

"We will have spectators on both sides of the track at the bridge," he said.

"I pay tribute to four volunteers, Darryl O'Donnell, Dan Collins, Graham Hodges and Peter Shroud, who work around the raceway between one and four days a week. …
