A JUNIOR soldier has said he is looking forward to the next stage of his career after celebrating his military passing out.

Luke Archer, 17, joined hundreds of others in graduating from the Army Foundation College in Harrogate on Thursday.

The passing out parade marks the completion of the soldiers' British Army Junior Entry training at Uniacke Barracks.

Luke, from Stockton, will now go on to serve in various Corps and Regiments of the British Army to begin the next part of his specialist training, where he will learn how to do his job at home and abroad.

Luke, who studied at Northfield School Sports College, in Billingham, and will go on to serve with the Yorkshire Regiment, said: "Graduating from AFC Harrogate in front of my friends and family is something that I am very proud of doing.

"As a junior soldier you learn core life skills such as leadership, teamwork and determination.

"I have made loads of friends and met new people, and have become much more confident in my own ability. …
