Student Benjamin Youngman, 18, lives in the Sheepfoot Hill area of Yarm.

He said: "There's a lot of variety - shops and places to eat.

"It was a nice place to grow up and there is quite a bit of history to it too.

"In terms of negatives it took quite a long time to re-open the library - but it's really good now."

Dance teacher Rachael Bramley, 34, lives in Yarm with her husband Chris, 40, a postman and their two children Charlie, eight, and Billy, three.

She said: "The best part of Yarm is the High Street.

"I just love being able to walk down and into the coffee shops."

But she thinks traffic is a negative factor. She said: "Getting into Yarm at both ends at certain times takes a while but the benefits of living here far outweigh any negatives. That's why we moved here."
