A PS2.5m makeover has turned a former TV studio into luxury apartments.

Aerial House was the location of the old Tyne Tees transmitter part of the City Road studio complex, once visible for miles around Newcastle, and was used to broadcast the station's shows.

Owned by Lugano Property Group, the building on City Road has been converted into 28 luxury serviced apartments.

The accommodation is a mixture of one, two and three bedrooms and will be operated by Dream Apartments.

Craig Martin, general manager for Dream Apartments Newcastle, said: "We already have six apartments in the city and wanted to look for a bigger premises, so it is really good to be able to develop the former studio.

"It is nice to bring a bit of life back into the building and get staff back working in it.

"It is still the original building but the developer removed the aerial, which was the main transmitter, from the building and then added two more floors which are eight penthouse apartments. …
