Open Garden Event Raises Funds for Humanitarian Aid

VISITORS can discover the hidden delights of Buderim's Orchid Grove at the Open Garden from September 9-11.

Nestled amongst the gum trees, this award-winning garden at 17 Barkston Ct showcases the exotic colour and rich beauty of one of the most highly coveted and intriguing of all flowering plants - the orchid.

Created with love by owners Chris and Angel O'Dempsey, Orchid Grove shows just what can be

done on a fairly standard block of land, with a bit of imagination, passion and hard work.

"We took care to take account of the natural lay of the land, the surrounding native vegetation and the aspect when coming up with a design," Chris said.

"We wanted a walk through our garden to feel like a walk through the bush or a rainforest. There is an amazing array of features in every hidden corner of every pathway.

"Because it's as close as we could get to a natural setting, our orchids have been established in a

natural style - on logs,

rocks and trees, which shows them off so much better than confining them all to pots. …
