Win on Prayer ...and Morey's; Buggy Gets across Line against All Odds

LUKE Dair sat in his buggy before the deciding race of the Mud Trials circuit earlier this month. He brought two fingers to his forehead, tapped both his shoulders, gripped his hands together and prayed.

His buggy, Mud Doctor, had lost its gears in the race before and was about to be towed off the track.

"I sat there and thought, how can you do all this work and throw it away because of a mechanical failure?" Dair said.

He started the buggy back up to be towed and it lunged forward.

"I told the tractor to get out of the road, this thing was going again," Dair said.

It had no first gear but Dair said it had enough grunt to finish with just second and third.

It crossed the line and with one race to go, Dair didn't think it would make it.

"I practically threw in the towel," he said.

Then he remembered the Mud Trials' motto.

"There's a joke in Mud Trials that Morey's Oil stabiliser fixes everything," he laughed. …
