BIG Local Central Jarrow and YMCA North Tyneside call on the community to give local lad Shay Simpson their vote ahead of a prestigious national youth awards ceremony.

The organisations are asking people to back Shy ahead of the prestigious national youth awards ceremony hosted this autumn by business woman, Sky presenter and BBC's The Apprentice winner Michelle Dewberry.

Shay has been nominated for the Young Leader of the Year, an award which recognises a young person for their ability to make a real difference in their YMCA and local area by bringing about positive change, working with vision and inspiring others.

14-year-old Shay was a shy young leader who initially got involved in the board of local community project Big Local in Central Jarrow, where PS1 million pounds of Lottery funding is spent transforming an area over a 10-year period, based on a locally decided action plan.

YMCA North Tyneside were engaged to deliver a detached youth programme on behalf of Big Local Central Jarrow to provide meaningful youth activities. …
