Nikki's Golden Boot Gives Bulls Vital Edge

FROM fledgling footballer to Women's City League 1 Golden Boot winner, Nikkita Cox's four-year footballing journey is one of the many narratives the Ipswich City Bulls' senior women's side have conjured on their road to success.

Cox led the line for the Bulls as striker in their City League 1-winning side this season. In the process, she found the back of the net an astonishing 44 times to take out the top-scorer award for the competition.

While the Bulls faced stern challenges from Narangba and UQFC for the premiership, Cox's Golden Boot competition was less troubling -- her nearest rival managing just 25 goals.

Juggling playing and work commitments, Cox was coy with the details of her impressive season, choosing instead to highlight the performances of her teammates.

That willingness to share the spotlight is a trait shared by Cox's teammates, whom she labelled "sisters" prior to the Bulls' 2-1 qualifying final win over UQFC on August 25.

"There's no clique, everyone is always there for each other and I think that's what makes us a special team," Cox said before the win over UQFC. …
