Women Make Mark on World; Female Role Models Are Paving the Way

IN THE words of world renowned former TV show host Oprah Winfrey, "the biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams".

This is echoed by another well-known businesswoman Estee Lauder, who highlighted when asked about her success, "I didn't get there by wishing for it or hoping for it but by working for it".

Thankfully the next generation is surrounded by positive female role models who continue to make their mark on the world either through business, politics or entertainment.

While it was started in our history, in the modern age women are continuing to show there are no limits, that we can fly an aircraft, be the CEO of a company and much more.

Professor Elizabeth Helen Blackburn is one of only 48 women to have won a Nobel Prize; spy Nancy Wake was the most decorated Australian servicewoman of the Second World War; Fiona Wood pioneered spray-on skin and was named Australian of the Year in 2005; Julia Gillard was the first female prime minister of Australia; and Cathy Freeman was the first indigenous Australian track and field athlete to win a medal in the Olympic Games, taking silver in Atlanta in 1996 and gold in Sydney in 2000. …
