Car-Part Firm's Future Is Bright after International Rebranding; MANUFACTURING

THE long-term future of a North East car parts manufacturer has been cemented following a rebranding exercise by its parent company.

Peterlee based Mecaplast has grown significantly since first opening in County Durham 20 years ago, building up a customer base which includes the likes of Jaguar Landrover, Toyota, Renault and BMW.

Now the firm is set to grow further, following a rebranding exercise to create a new company name, Novares.

The firm's French owners Mecaplast Group merged with US firm Key Plastics earlier this year and the new name for the combined companies has been created to reflect the evolution and new ambition set for the company, ensuring growth for the future.

The merger and the rebrand will help to ensure the long-term future of the Peterlee site, where 140 people are employed, as well as aid continued investment and job creation. Plant manager David Cann said: "As a plant we have undergone significant growth in the last few years and the merger with Key Plastics, and subsequent rebrand as Novares, represents the next phase of the group's development journey. …
