Ready for Top Guns; Young Warwick Driver Going for 48.8 Second Lap Time

KARTING: Jayden O'Dea has one aim in mind as he competes for the second time in the Junior Top Guns karting at Sandy Creek Raceway this weekend.

"I want to drive a personal best of 48.8 this weekend," he said.

Jayden, 10, has been competing with the Warwick Karting Club for a little over a year and was in the Junior Top Guns last year on his P plates.

This year, he is in a field of 28 in the cadet 12 class.

While he is the only Warwick-based driver in the class, some members of the Warwick Karting Club from other centres will also fly the Warwick flag in the meeting.

Jayden started off with times of just under a minute on the 1km track at Sandy Creek Raceway and now has his best time down to 48.95 seconds.

He tops 91kmh down the main straight.

"I like the speed in karting," Jayden said. …
