CQUNIVERSITY'S Professor John Rolfe has been elected into an elite Australian social sciences body, acknowledging his exemplary achievements in the field of economics.

Professor Rolfe became a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia (ASSA), becoming the first from CQUniversity to be recognised by the organisation.

Professor Rolfe is one of 46 new fellows elected from 18 discipline areas this year, contributing to the 637-strong fellowship.

As a resource economist, Professor Rolfe specialises in regional development; environmental, resource and agricultural economic issues; agricultural adoption and economic impact assessment in regional areas.

Professor Rolfe has more than 115 refereed publications, a further 250 journal articles, conference papers and research reports, and more than 3600 citations in Google Scholar.

He is a past editor-in-chief for a major applied economics journal, the Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics.

In 2011, he was identified by Regional Development Australia as one of the most influential academics in Australia in regional development issues. …
