AT THE start of the year, Sawtell Dodger Andrew Mainey declared he would return to baseball and pitch his side to victory.

True to his word, he helped the Dodgers claim the 2017 Coffs Harbour Baseball Association title on Saturday, comfortably beating the Woolgoolga Blue Sox in a quality grand final.

Led from the mound by Mainey, who was almost flawless across seven innings, the Dodgers were never headed by the minor premiers Blue Sox.

The Sox could not get a handle on Mainey's wicked breaking ball, as the side failed to register a hit until a sixth innings double to Tama Nohotima.

The Dodgers on the other hand got runs on the board early, scoring two in the first dig. Blue Sox pitcher Aiden Banks then settled, keeping the Dodgers scoreless before giving up just one run in the fourth.

In every game this year there has been a decisive innings and for the Dodgers it came at the bottom of the fifth.

As Banks walked two of the first three bats and Scott McLean grabbed an infield single, the Dodgers looked ominous with loaded bases. …
