Golf Juniors Ready for Two-Course Quest

Article excerpt

GOLF: Talented juniors Declan Corke and Oscar McBean will challenge some of Yeppoon's toughest fairways this weekend at the Central Queensland Junior Open Championship.

Young golfers from across the state will head to the coastal town with play taking place on two courses across three days.

Capricorn Resort will host days one and three on Saturday and Monday, and Yeppoon Golf Club will host the action on Sunday.

Eleven-year-old Declan has played at both courses and will play in the A-grade Boys division which consists of three rounds of 18 holes.

Declan's father Derran Corke said his son should revel in playing his preferred course during Days 1 and 3.

"He likes the resort course, he's always played quite well up there," Corke said.

"I think it's the distance as well. He likes a long course with larger greens and enjoys the lush fairways."

Declan will be in for a challenge though as he goes up against players with more age and experience. …
