Poole Embraces First Grade; Bowler Gears Up for New Two-Day Challenge

CRICKET: Sunshine Coast Scorchers bowling powerhouse Ashley Poole has relished his step up into the Queensland Premier Grade.

The 23-year-old has hit the pitch for the Scorchers for the first time this season and is the opening bowler and lower order batsmen.

He's made the most of the step up and even claimed three scalps for 44 runs in last week's one-day victory over Ipswich Logan.

"It is a lot more intense but it's a lot more valuable and a lot more rewarding for me as well," he said.

"I wasn't too sure what to expect and I was keeping an open mind about it and letting the team dictate how I was going to go into it but it's been really good and everyone has been really supportive of me."

Poole will be looking to continue his form as he debuts with the Scorchers in their two-day campaign against Souths at home today.

He was confident if the Scorchers played as a unit the results would flow through. …
