AS A school leaver choosing what you want to do with your future is incredibly hard and daunting.

I remember facing the choice years ago, too long to say how long, but I was lucky.

My Year 7 ambition was the same as my Year 12 choice and it's what I'm doing now.

But I'm pretty sure that would be a rarity.

It's very difficult for young people to know what they want to do but it's one of those things; the decision they make in their final year of school does not have to be their final decision - one they stick with for the rest of their lives.

The good thing is there are plenty of people in schools now that are there to help our young kids make a good decision. Something that makes it even harder for people living in regional areas like Gladstone is the fact they are in regional areas.

They not only have to decide what they want to do but often they have to make a decision on if they want to leave the place that they are from. …
