Ben Tackles Biggest Role Yet in Aladdin Musical

WHEN Aladdin freed a genie from a lamp all of his wishes came true, now the same is happening for a Toowoomba man destined to take on the leading role.

On the stage since "he was an infant" Ben Gillespie first took on the world of musical theatre in the garden city before taking his talents national and even international.

His latest role will see him join the ensemble cast of Aladdin The Musical. However he will also be the understudy for the lead role.

"I auditioned about three months ago and the show is obviously touring now so they needed someone for an immediate start," Mr Gillespie said.

The show is currently being performed in Melbourne and will head a bit closer to home for Mr Gillespie in February when it comes to Brisbane.

"I have watched it about eight times; there is so much happening on stage," he said.

"The sets are spectacular. I am just sitting there gobsmacked at what is going on. …
