AS the sun breached the horizon in Upper Teesdale, Trinity Mirror North East cameras were running to show ChronicleLive readers the sunrise at the beautiful Cow Green Reservoir.

Later in the day, the digital team moved to the foot of High Force, where they were able to treat readers to a stunning sunset.

The broadcasts, which are part of Durham County Council's #HelpDurhamShine campaign, attracted viewers from both home and across the globe.

Over the course of the day, the broadcasts reached almost 250,000 people through facebook and the stunning scenery attracted comments from viewers in cities such as Athens, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Copenhagen, Calgary, Sydney and Auckland.

Local comments raved about the beautiful scenery and how lucky North East residents are to live so close.
