Forest Glen

Article excerpt

IT'S where the country meets the city.

Forest Glen is an emerging part of the Sunshine Coast, situated on the Bruce Highway and between the Sunshine Motorway interchange and the Maroochydore Rd roundabout.

As such it is where country people from central and northern Queensland hit the urban area of the state's south east.

At the same time it is where the Sunshine Coast hinterland meets the coastal strip.

With a size of about six square kilometres, Forest Glen fits a lot in with picturesque rural residential properties and a thriving commercial industry.

It is a hive of activity for businesses, including a turf farm, caravan and trailer manufacturing, truck, tractor and off-road vehicle yards, the twin BP service centres, storage centres, warehouses and more.

The distinctive rearing horse on the Horseland store that provides everything for the horse lover and that has provided a welcome to Forest Glen for many years.

The Natural Foodstore was the centre of attraction yet their popularity has grown immensely since being transformed into Kunara Organic Marketplace, that is in many ways an incubator for holistic well-being.

Continually expanding, the centre offers an organic cafe, deli, fresh organic produce, natural health and skincare.

Yet other businesses such as Sunshine Coast Organic Meats have also relocated to the centre.

The construction of a new $2.6million roundabout at the intersection of Mons Road and Owen Creek Road will improve traffic flow as well as cater for future expansion of the shopping centre.

Sunshine Coast Grammar School is located at Forest Glen and there is also a Big 4 Holiday

resort that has Spirit of Tibet restaurant within its grounds.

Established in 1997, Sunshine Coast Grammar School is set on a beautiful 40hectare site with its own lakes and rainforest. It is an independent, co-educational, Christian-based school for children from Prep to Year 12 and forms part of the education hub in and around Buderim that has the University of the Sunshine Coast as its heart.

Forest Glen is also the new home of Montessori International College that moved to Maroochydore Road from Sippy Downs. …
