'IT'S about you and me,' said Mackay's Daniel Walters to his partner Karen, when discussing their plans to marry.

The couple, who fell in love over nine years ago, had already travelled the world and bought a house when they decided it was finally time to take the next step and call each other husband and wife.

Having already booked a holiday to Canada in October to celebrate both of their birthdays, they turned the trip into a double celebration.

They chose to elope, just the two of them, in Vancouver, Canada on October 21, among the trees and leaves of Stanley Park at dawn.

Now newlyweds, they said the day turned out as 'magically' as they had hoped.

"We picked the location for its sheer beauty," Karen said. "It was a phenomenal spot and so special with just the two of us, we chose to do it that way to really just celebrate each other and we are really glad we did it that way in the end.

"It was wonderful, it was actually pouring rain at first and freezing cold, blowing a gale and the sun hadn't even come up yet, but we were just so lost in the moment, it didn't matter, we had the most amazing day. …
