Kindy Promotes Children's Future; Joy of Early Years Not Forgotten Says Director

"THE early childhood years are wondrous. From the day children are born they enter a new and colourful world of discovery where everything is new and unfamiliar.

"To get to know themselves, others and their worlds, children need to feel safe and secure."

That is the opinion of Rachel Lynch who as director of Acorn Easts is determined to deliver a centre that provides outstanding care. Care the nurtures the child's development while supporting each child's potential to grow within their environment.

Whether it be at Acorn East or on Branyan, each child is considered unique and individual and when supported in their development they will grow into, honest, caring children that make good choices for their futures.

This is especially enhanced when it comes to the kindergarten year.

Ms Lynch said parents are amazed by the amount of learning that takes place.

Parents work with the centre's teachers to support their children's learning.

"As a team working together, children become lifelong learners," Ms Lynch said.

The aim of the play-based Kindergarten program is to promote a sense of wonder, exploration, investigation and interest in a rich range of materials, resources and opportunities in which the child can engage.

"Our kindergarten program can help your child get ready for school in a play-based learning environment as it is a program that is designed to meet government guidelines to support your child's participation in quality early childhood education" Ms Lynch said.

Children have a change to engage within the community by becoming Junior Turtle Rangers in conjunction with Mon Repo, visit the library and local schools.

Each week the children engage with Acorn's music teacher to help them express their creativity, ideas and feelings through dance, music and dramatic play. …
