Our Responsibility to Help with Manus Island Camp

TIM COSTELLO from World Vision Australia must be a liar. The Australian Medical Association is obviously a dangerous organisation advocating action that will bring about the death of thousands of innocents.

Former Australians of the Year, Rosie Batty, Ita Buttrose, Simon McKeon, Patrick McGorry, Mick Dodson, Tim Flannery, Fiona Wood, Fiona Stanley, Gustav Nossal, Peter Doherty, John Yu and Robert de Castella are also forming part of a group that is not only immoral but threatens our very national security.

The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), too, is obviously a fraudulent body.

Brigidine Sister Jane Keogh, Christian Pastor Jarrod McKenna and Anglican Parish Priest Dave Smith are in the same camp as Tim Costello and can simply not be trusted. How could it be otherwise?

Of course I refer to the appalling state of affairs for hundreds of men currently on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea.

At the moment the Australian people are being asked to ignore all of the people listed above and a myriad of other experts in the field and instead place our trust in the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection Peter Dutton.

Last week Tim Costello was on Manus Island and witnessed the cuts and the bruises inflicted as men were forcibly removed from one prison camp ostensibly to another.

Costello, as part of a delegation from the Australian Council for International Development, visited the dwelling place that the men have been moved to and found it to be still a construction site.

The delegation found that there are inadequate services including vital mental health expertise to care for men who have been traumatised for more than four years now.

The Australian Medical Association has offered to send doctors to the camp to assess and treat the asylum seekers who have had their lives on hold for so long. …
