The Best Is in Boro Squad

Article excerpt

THE Gazette (24.11.17) printed a list of the Boro's top goalscorers for the last 20 years.

That's a long time, all the greats are there. Including Ravanelli, Juninho, Hasselbaink and yes, Bamford.

Who has scored more goals in the league than any of the afore mentioned. In fact more than anyone in the last 23 years.

Do you know what, he is still with us warming his backside on the bench if he's in the squad at all. Has this player's form slumped so much in just two years? I don't think so.

It might be true to stop calling them "special" because nothing is real.

The imagery phenomenon is no longer a visionary spectacle.

But all is not lost as we still have some great movies of the past and Redcar's very own independent seaside cinema is showing one of them.

The beloved fairytale 'The Princess Bride' (1987) is to be screened at The Regent over three days, from Friday, December 8 to Sunday, December 10. The film, released as a 30th year anniversary special is based on William Goldman's classic 1970s novel (he also wrote the screenplay).

It's a fine example how a proper family film should be written - action packed, swashbuckling, lighthearted, powerful, a bit sweet, but not too sugary.

There are warm characters, dark villains, giant rodents, stunts a plenty and masterful set pieces.

Don't miss this incredible opportunity to see a proper adventure movie on the only place it should be seen - the big screen.

STEPHEN DIXON, Redcar We wouldn't make the same mistakes THE argument rolls on. …
