THE journey young Malakhai Riley has had to battle through hasn't been an easy one.

This brave little fighter has endured more hardship within the space of a year and a half than most would in five lifetimes.

Earlier this year Malakhai was diagnosed with Niemann-Pick Type A, a condition with only 50 known cases in the world, and a life expectancy of just three years.

At the weekend, a little bit of light was able to shine down as the Warwick community banded together to put on a family fun day, organised by Goodstart Early Learning.

Various groups from around town were on hand to raise money to help the family of Malakhai deal with the costs of living and medical expenses.

Hundreds of people came down to the event, featuring a jumping castle, music, karaoke and enough food to feed a small village.

Malakhai's mother Cassie Lamos said she was overwhelmed by the support of the Warwick community.

"It's been awesome so far, and it's good to see the community come down and support my little man," Miss Lamos said. …
