STEVE Watson would like nothing better than to take Gateshead to Wembley in his first season as manager.

Watson was assistant manager at Macclesfield Town last season when the Silkmen reached the FA Trophy final - only to lose to Gary Mills' York City.

Former Premier League star Watson's first Trophy game as a manager in his own right will take place on December 16 against Guiseley.

The first-round draw paired the Tynesiders with the Yorkshire outfit, Watson's men crucially having home advantage.

Guiseley are second-bottom of the Vanarama National League but, like Gateshead, are through to the second round of the FA Cup.

The Heed host League Two leaders Luton Town on Sunday as they bid to reach the third round of the Cup for only the second time in 60 years.

Watson (pictured below) said: "The Luton game is a big one. We are at the International Stadium and it is great to be also be given a home tie in the FA Trophy. …
