Cutters Don't Make Cut; but All Hope for Team Not Lost Just Yet

LEAGUE: The Burnett Heads Cutters have failed in their attempt to join the Bundaberg Rugby League next season.

The NewsMail can reveal the Queensland Rugby League Central Division rejected an appeal from the club this week.

The club applied to join the BRL in reserves next season after playing in the Northern Districts Rugby League since 2015.

The club was also going to field junior teams in the Bundaberg Junior Rugby League.

"In allowing them to change an independent tribunal had to find if it was viable enough for it to happen," QRL central division manager Glenn Ottaway said.

"In the end the evidence didn't make it a viable option."

The main factor behind the rejection came from the potential junior program.

The team would need to field under-6, U7 and U8 sides but only had three new players registered that were not currently registered to other BRL clubs.

Ottaway said clubs coming in couldn't take players away from other clubs. …
