Pride Women Secure Valuable Players for New Season

FOOTBALL: Western Pride have re-signed four key players for the 2018 NPL women's season ahead of an in-house friendly match on Sunday.

Emma Barnes, Nakoya Mclennan, Sasha Beaumont and Mackenzie McAvoy will all return in the green and white next season.

Ipswich-based Barnes has a long association with Pride, having been an inaugural under 15 player at the club in 2013.

Barnes has scored two goals in 23 appearances for Pride's senior team over the past two seasons.

The holding midfielder's signature is a boost for Pride following a return to full fitness after missing the majority of the 2017 season.

Mclennan joined from Brisbane Roar's youth program at the start of the season and soon became a composed presence in the heart of Pride's defence.

Mid-season recruit Beaumont played under Pride coach Belinda Kitching in Hervey Bay.

Beaumont previously played NPL as a junior for the short-lived Wide Bay Revolution back before returning to the state competition in June with Pride. …
