Believe It or Not, Taking a Swim Might Warm You Up

GETTING wet might be the way to warm up when the forecast cold snap hits this weekend.

Water temperatures on the Sunshine Coast are warmer than the air temperature.

The ocean is sitting at a balmy 22 degrees, way above the minimums of six to nine degrees forecast for the five days starting tomorrow, and also above the maximums, which are expected to range between 18 and 21.

Ron Carr, a member of the Stunned Mullets, a group of hardcore swimmers who take to the water at Kings Beach, agreed he was better off in the water in the mornings than out of it at this time

of year.

"It's really not that bad," Mr Carr said.

"I swim for anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes and I get out. I just swim in my togs but some of the fellows in the Stunned Mullets stay in a bit longer and have wetsuits," he said. …
