Time to Review Video System, Says Wanderers Veteran

BRENDON Santalab's heroics against the Central Coast Mariners were largely overshadowed by the VAR and the Wanderers veteran says the controversial use of the technology has become unacceptable.

Santalab scored and earned an assist for Alvaro Cejudo as Western Sydney finally won their first game under coach Josep Gombau 2-0 at Central Coast Stadium on Saturday night.

That should have been the talking point.

But instead the focus was on the intervention of the VAR in the second half that resulted in two Mariners players being sent off.

Santalab says he felt for the home side and their fans when first Wout Brama, then Jake McGing had their yellow cards upgraded to reds by referee Alex King.

"When we go upstairs we need to get the decision 100 per cent spot on," Santalab said.

"But we have fans waiting two or three minutes for decisions.

"Fans are getting upset, players are standing around - it's a lose, lose.

"I don't know whether they were red cards or not, but something has to be done. …
