THE Warwick Wildcats were up against it on Saturday night.

Coming up against the juggernaut of USQ, whose team was full of players with QBL experience, was never going to be easy.

The Dragons side featured the likes of Toowoomba Mountaineers Jack Gallagher, Paul Aleer and Josh Ozegovic.

Aleer was even linked with the Cairns Taipans earlier in the year.

They were heavy favourites to take home the title from the opening round, but our boys can go home knowing they made them work for it.

Shots at key moments in the game didn't drop for the Wildcats, nor did many of the 50-50 calls in the game go the way of the home side.

They could've easily given up at half-time when they were down a big margin and lost leading scorer Josh Cremasco early in the second quarter to a hamstring injury, but they did the opposite and continued to fight.

Centre Nick Quinn battled away in the third quarter. Young Jayden Clark showed his promise, attacking the basket with late minutes in the fourth, putting up the last four Wildcats points in the process. …
