STOCKLAND invested $130million in 2017 - a year marked by numerous major milestones at its residential communities - and expects an even bigger year in 2018 with greater investment across its Sunshine Coast residential projects.

"It has been a fantastic year for Stockland on the Sunshine Coast and, incredibly, we are expecting the next 12 months to be even bigger," regional manager Ben Simpson said.

"In the past year, we delivered homes for more than 1000 Sunshine Coast families, constructed 10 new parks and opened more than 50km of roads, including the first stage of the Bells Creek Arterial Road," Mr Simpson said.

"We also opened three major bridges, launched and commenced construction at Oceanside's Bokarina Beach community and secured final approvals for all the Oceanside projects which includes our future Birtinya Town Centre."

Mr Simpson said Stockland continued to see strong buyer interest with new home sites at the prestigious Bokarina Beach project being fast tracked to meet demand.

Bokarina Beach will ultimately become a premium mixed-use residential, retail and tourism hub and will include approximately 160 home sites, 130 terrace homes and 800 beachside and north facing park-front apartments.

"Construction on the first homes is due to begin by late 2018 and the first residents are expected to move in by early 2019," Mr Simpson said.

"Our vision for the $5billion Oceanside precinct has really come to life with the opening of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct, the Opal Aged Care facility and three new parks on Birtinya Island."

Other milestones included the start of construction and first sales at Stockland's $63 million Birtinya Retirement Village, which offers a mix of one, two and three bedroom low-maintenance apartments within the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct. …
