Specialty Bakery Opens; Sourdough, Breads and Pastries on Local Menu

YEPPOON finally has a bakery that bakes speciality bread in the CBD after Baked on 44 opened its doors in James St yesterday.

Chef and Baked on 44 owner Kristan Casuscelli said his new bakery will offer authentic French-style bread, pastries and a lot more.

"I was motivated to open the shop when we found we could not buy freshly baked sourdough and specialty bread after the old bakery closed down its three shops," Mr Casuscelli said.

"We like to buy local and I thought well, if I can't buy it I will bake it."

It is no long shot for Mr Casuscelli, who has travelled the world as a chef for the past 15 years.

He's worked in everything from fine dining to pastry in some of the world's finest restaurants.

While the new bakery will be a welcome relief for the Capricorn Coast, Mr Casuscelli is not content to leave the business there, with plans already in place to extend the business in 2018. …
