Hotel Firm on Lookout for Town Site as Growth Plans Continue

BUDGET hotel chain Travelodge is looking for a location in Hexham as it pushes ahead with expansion plans in the North East.

The company has opened its fourth hotel in Newcastle with a site on the Quayside that was converted from former BT offices.

The new 120-room hotel with bar cafe and on-site car parking represents an investment of PS11m for the landlord and has created 38 new jobs.

Now Travelodge has revealed that it is looking to open seven more hotels in the North East, including Hexham, Durham, North Shields and South Shields.

Nichola Stevens, Travelodge's regional director North, said: "We have been searching for the perfect location for our fourth Newcastle Travelodge for a long time and we are thrilled to have opened in such a prominent position as the Quayside.
