CHRISTMAS is a hectic time; presents to buy, food to cook, outfits to buy for parties it can seem endless.

One of our volunteer sighted buddies, Marie, recently took some time out from her own Christmas preparations and accompany a client with sight loss, Julie, to do hers.

Julie wanted to pick up her husband's Christmas present and get her outfit and nails done for a party.

Her husband was delighted for two reasons - this year he has no idea what his pressie is as he's not had to go with her to get it - and he is not a great fan of clothes shopping! It was great for Julie to have Marie's company to do what she wanted to, and they both had a brilliant time finishing off with a welldeserved cuppa and cake. And, that is what being a My Guide sighted buddy is all about. It's simply empowering people with sight loss to get out and do the everyday things that many of us take for granted, particularly in the hurly burly of a busy time like Christmas. …
